Cookie Policy & Storage
Transparency and full control over your privacy · 100% Privacy by Design
1. What are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your browser by websites to remember preferences, maintain sessions or, on many third-party sites, track your behavior across the web.
2. Our Commitment: Zero Advertising or Tracking Cookies
Belayfy is architected from the ground up to respect your privacy. We DO NOT use advertising cookies, we DO NOT install social media tracking pixels (such as Meta Pixel or TikTok), and we DO NOT sell or share browsing data with advertisers. We only use a usage analytics tool (PostHog), which is only activated if you give us your explicit consent through the cookie banner, and which you can reject at any time.
3. Strictly Necessary Technical Storage
To allow you to securely log in and use our platform, we use standard browser technical storage (`localStorage`):
- `token` & `user` (`localStorage`): Temporarily stores your encrypted session token (JWT) and basic role (student/teacher) right on your browser so you stay logged in as you browse your lessons and reports. This is strictly necessary technical storage (exempt from consent under GDPR and ePrivacy guidelines).
4. Usage Analytics with Consent (PostHog)
To understand how many people visit the website and which features are most useful, we use PostHog, a product analytics platform. PostHog is only activated if you accept the cookie consent banner; if you reject it, nothing is loaded or sent. PostHog may store its own cookies (prefix `__posthog_`) and usage data (visited pages, events, session) for statistical and product improvement purposes. You can change your decision at any time by clearing cookies or contacting us.
